The Long Āgama Sutra is one of the four Āgama scriptures of early Buddhist canonical texts, translated jointly by the Later Qin dynasty translators Buddhayaśas and Zhu Fonian. This sutra was compiled around the 1st century BCE and belongs to the fundamental sacred texts of early Buddhism, recording the teachings and dialogues of the Buddha and his disciples. The entire sutra consists of 30 scrolls, divided into four sections, primarily containing the life of the Buddha, doctrinal expositions, meditation practices, and cosmological views, systematically preserving the foundational teachings of early Buddhism. As an important scripture in Chinese Buddhism, the Long Āgama Sutra is regarded as a core text for studying early Buddhist thought. It holds an irreplaceable authoritative position within the Buddhist canon and has profoundly influenced the development of Buddhism in later generations.
