### 地獄品法句經第三十十有六章

> Chapter 30: Hell, 16 Verses

地獄品者，道泥犁事，作惡受惡，罪牽不置。

> The chapter on Hell describes the events of the lower realms: doing evil leads to suffering, and karmic consequences pursue the offender without respite.

妄語地獄近， 作之言不作，二罪後俱受， 是行自牽往。法衣在其身， 為惡不自禁，苟沒惡行者， 終則墮地獄。無戒受供養， 理豈不自損？死噉燒鐵丸， 然熱劇火炭。放逸有四事， 好犯他人婦，臥險非福利， 毀三淫泆四。不福利墮惡， 畏惡、畏樂寡，王法重罰加， 身死入地獄。譬如拔菅草， 執緩則傷手，學戒不禁制， 獄錄乃自賊。人行為慢惰， 不能除眾勞，梵行有玷缺， 終不受大福。常行所當行， 自持必令強，遠離諸外道， 莫習為塵垢。為所不當為， 然後致欝毒，行善常吉順， 所適無悔恡。其於眾惡行， 欲作若已作，是苦不可解， 罪近難得避。

> Lying leads close to hell— "You did it," claiming you did not. Both sins will later be felt— Your own deeds drag you there. The robe may hang on one's back, Yet evil acts unchecked within. If one conceals wicked deeds, In the end, hell they will enter. Receiving offerings without keeping precepts— How can this not bring self-harm? After death, they swallow red-hot iron balls, Burning fiercer than raging coals. Four kinds of heedlessness exist— A serious one is coveting others' wives. Sleeping on danger brings no blessing, Destroying virtue, three evils plus lust as fourth. Unblessedness leads to falling into woe— Fear evil, fear joy in little things. The king's law adds heavy punishment; Upon death, one falls into hell. It's like pulling up grass— If you grasp it loosely, it cuts your hand. Practicing precepts without restraint— The prison of hell ensnares you yourself. If a person is lazy and slow, They cannot remove all suffering. A holy life with stains and flaws Will never bring great blessings. Always do what should be done— Uphold yourself firmly, make yourself strong. Stay far from all outside paths— Do not practice what is dirty dust. Do what should not be done, Then you will reap bitter poison. Doing good always brings smooth fortune— Wherever you go, no regret, no shame. As for all evil deeds, Whether intending or already done— This suffering is hard to undo; Sin is near, hard to escape.

妄證求敗， 行已不正， 怨譖良人，以抂治士。 罪縛斯人， 自投于坑，如備邊城， 中外牢固。 自守其心，非法不生， 行缺致憂， 令墮地獄。可羞不羞， 非羞反羞， 生為邪見，死墮地獄； 可畏不畏， 非畏反畏，信向邪見， 死墮地獄。 可避不避，可就不就， 翫習邪見， 死墮地獄；可近則近， 可遠則遠， 恒守正見，死墮善道。

> Trying to prove a false point leads to failure; if your own conduct is crooked, slandering good people and wrongly judging others, such sins bind a person, and they fall into their own pit. Just like guarding a border town— strongly fortified both inside and out— if you guard your own mind well, no unwholesome thoughts arise. But if your conduct is flawed, it brings sorrow, and leads you to fall into hell. Those who are ashamed of what is not shameful, yet not ashamed of what truly is; who hold wrong views in life, will fall into hell when they die. Those who fear what is not fearsome, yet do not fear what truly is; who put their faith in wrong views, will fall into hell when they die. Those who avoid what should not be avoided, yet pursue what should not be pursued; who indulge in wrong views, will fall into hell when they die. Those who approach what should be approached, and keep away from what should be kept away; who constantly uphold right views, will, when they die, be born in a good realm.
