### 隋釋法朗

> Dharma Master Falang of the Sui Dynasty

南陽許氏。棲止無定。多住鄂州。時誦讀諸經。志專法華。潔誓誦之。一坐七遍。如是良久。聲如雷動。遠近亮徹。世因目為法華朗焉。有比丘尼為鬼所著。超悟玄解。莫不稱為聰悟。師曰。此邪鬼也。厲聲呵之。魅即怖去。霍然如失。

> Nanyang Xu, a monk who wandered without a fixed abode, often residing in Ezhou. He would recite various scriptures, but his focus was on the Lotus Sutra. With a pure vow, he recited it, sitting in meditation and repeating it seven times in one session. Over time, his voice resounded like thunder, clear and bright both near and far. For this reason, people called him "Lotus Lan" (the Lotus Reciter). Once, a nun was possessed by a ghost, yet she appeared to gain profound insights and was praised for her clever understanding. The master said, "This is an evil spirit." He shouted sharply at it, and the ghost, frightened, immediately departed, and the nun was suddenly restored as if nothing had happened.
