> It is said: When living beings receive the Buddha's precepts, they enter the stage of all Buddhas. This stage is equal to great awakening, and they are truly children of the Buddha. <note>For laypeople, novices, and monastics, the precept codes are progressively elaborated; here, the Bodhisattva precepts are explained.</note> Disciples <note>\[Name\]</note>, with single-minded devotion, take refuge in the Three Jewels and receive the Bodhisattva Precepts of the Mind-Ground. There are ten major precepts, called the Ten Grave Precepts, which I now accept and uphold: 1. The precept against killing 2. The precept against stealing 3. The precept against sexual misconduct 4. The precept against lying 5. The precept against selling alcohol 6. The precept against speaking of the faults of the four assemblies 7. The precept against praising oneself and disparaging others 8. The precept against being miserly and adding abuse 9. The precept against harboring anger and refusing reconciliation 10. The precept against slandering the Three Jewels These ten precepts I vow to uphold, never falling into the offense of parajika (defeat). May the great prajna paramita be with us. <note>Recite three times.</note> Now, I take the vow to receive the Bodhicitta precepts: I let go of all attachment to self, move beyond the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, and release both the perceiver and the perceived. Within the equality of all phenomena, the mind is originally unborn, for its nature is inherently empty. Just as all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the past aroused bodhicitta, so do I now. Sentient beings are countless; I vow to liberate them all. Afflictions are endless; I vow to cut them all off. Dharma gates are infinite; I vow to learn them all. The Buddha's path is supreme; I vow to realize it fully. Though space may have an end, my vows are boundless. Though space may have an end, my vows are boundless. <note>This concludes the section on repentance and making vows.</note>
