> Master Fashun

姓杜氏。世傳文殊化身也。降靈於雍州萬年縣。神迹炳著。不可勝紀。有患聾者投師。師呼之則聾愈。有患瘂者投師。師與之言則瘂愈。武功縣僧為毒龍所魅。眾掖以請師。師端拱面之坐。龍遂附病僧曰。大師所向。義無復留。尋即釋然。師大弘華嚴圓頓之旨。作法界觀。文簡理盡。天下宗之。甞作法身頌曰。嘉州牛喫草。益州馬腹脹。天下覓醫人。灸猪左膊上。義學莫能窺其旨。餘具如本傳。

> His surname was Du. It was said throughout the ages that he was an incarnation of Manjushri Bodhisattva. He manifested his spiritual presence in Wannian County, Yongzhou, where his miraculous traces shone brilliantly and were too numerous to count. A person suffering from deafness came to seek his aid. The Master called out to him, and his deafness was cured. A person suffering from muteness came to seek his aid. The Master spoke with him, and his muteness was healed. A monk from Wugong County was possessed by a poisonous dragon. The crowd carried him to request the Master's help. The Master sat upright and faced the afflicted monk. The dragon then spoke through the possessed monk, saying, "When the Great Master is present, righteousness leaves no room for me to linger." Immediately, the monk was released from the possession. The Master greatly propagated the ultimate teaching of the Avatamsaka Sutra—the perfect and sudden doctrine. He composed the \*Meditation on the Dharma Realm\*, a text both concise in wording yet complete in principle, which was revered throughout the land. He once composed a verse on the Dharma Body, saying: \*"The ox of Jiazhou eats grass;\* \*The horse of Yizhou has a swollen belly.\* \*Searching the world over for a physician,\* \*One moxibusts the left shoulder of a pig."\* Scholars of doctrinal study could not fathom the depth of this verse.
