### ▲龜洋無了禪師

> Master Guilang Wuliao

甞有虎逐鹿入菴。師以杖格虎。鹿得脫去。將示化。述偈曰。八十年來辨西東。如今不要白頭翁。非長非短非大小。還與諸人色相同。無來無去兼無住。了却本來自性空。偈畢儼然告寂。瘞於正堂。垂二十載。為山泉淹沒。門人發塔。見全身水中而浮。閩王聞之。遣使舁入府庭供養。忽臭氣遠聞。王焚香祝之曰。可還龜洋舊址建塔。言訖異香普薰。傾城瞻禮。遂塔於龜洋。

> Once, a tiger chased a deer into the hermitage. The master blocked the tiger with his staff, and the deer escaped. When he was about to pass into final stillness, he spoke a verse: "Eighty years I've discerned east from west, Now this white-haired elder is no longer needed. Neither long nor short, neither large nor small, Still the same form as all beings. No coming, no going, and no abiding— Fully realized, the original nature is emptiness." Having spoken the verse, he remained serene and passed away. He was buried in the main hall. Twenty years later, the mountain spring flooded the site. His disciples opened the stupa and saw his entire body floating in the water. The King of Min heard of this and sent envoys to bring the body to the palace for veneration. Suddenly, a foul odor spread far and wide. The king burned incense and prayed, saying, "May the master return to the old site at Guiyang to have a stupa built." As soon as he spoke, a wondrous fragrance filled the air. The entire city came to pay respects, and thus a stupa was erected at Guiyang.

隱峯無了。皆於化後。假四大說法。
