### 福州仙宗院守玭禪師

久不上堂。大眾入方丈參。師曰。今夜與大眾同請假。未審還給假也無。若未聞給假。即先言者負。珍重。僧問。十二時中常在底人。還消得人天供養也無。師曰。消不得。曰。為甚麼消不得。師曰。為汝常在。曰。祇如常不在底人。還消得也無。師曰。驢年。問。請師答無賓主話。師曰。向無賓主處問將來。

> Not having entered the hall for a long time, the community gathered in the abbot's quarters to pay their respects. The master said, "Tonight I am asking for leave along with all of you. I wonder if it will be granted. If you have not heard whether leave is granted, then the one who speaks first takes the blame. Take care." A monk asked, "Does a person who is constantly present throughout the twelve hours deserve the offerings of humans and devas?" The master said, "He does not deserve them." The monk asked, "Why does he not deserve them?" The master said, "Because you are constantly present." The monk asked, "Then what about a person who is constantly absent? Does he deserve them?" The master said, "In the year of the donkey." Another monk asked, "Please, Master, answer the question of no host and no guest." The master said, "Ask it from the place where there is no host and no guest."
