> A monk from the Peng family in Siming. He became a monk at a young age and directly sought out the great monastic communities. He served under Le Tan at Huangbo. One day, returning from Linchuan with his alms bowl, he happened upon Le Tan's evening lecture, during which it was said: "When a single leaf drifts through the air, autumn is immediately seen; the Dharmakaya must penetrate through the clamorous noise." Upon hearing this, the monk understood the essential point, and Le Tan confirmed his realization. Later, he relied on Dahui, who also remarked that this monk resembled himself. Because of this, many famous officials and abbots of great monasteries invited him with great ceremony, but he declined them all. Once, he composed a verse on Dayu's response to the Buddha's words: "Sawing through a scale with a weighing hammer." This line comes from Du Fu's poem: "Red rice, remnants of the parrot's pecks; green wutong, where the phoenix perches on the old branch."
