### 真州長蘆琳禪師

> Master Zhenlin of Changlu Temple in Zhenzhou

上堂拈拄杖曰。其宗也離心意識。其旨也超去來今。離心意識。故品萬類不見差殊。超去來今。故盡十方更無滲漏。當頭不犯。徹底無依。悟向朕兆未生已前。用在功勳不犯之處。平常活計。不用躊蹰。擬議之間。即沒交涉。

> The master ascended the hall, raised his staff, and said: "Its essence transcends the mind, thoughts, and perceptions. Its meaning surpasses past, present, and future. Because it transcends the mind, thoughts, and perceptions, one sees no distinction among the myriad things. Because it surpasses past, present, and future, the entire universe is without any leak or omission. At the very forefront, there is no offense; at the deepest foundation, there is nothing to rely on. Awakening occurs before any sign of manifestation, and action takes place where merit does not apply. In ordinary daily activities, there is no need for hesitation. The moment you pause to deliberate, you lose touch with it entirely."
