> Chan Master Zhengfa Jian of Chengdu Prefecture

上堂。兔馬有角。牛羊無角。絕毫絕氂。如山如嶽。針鋒上師子飜身。藕竅中大鵬展翼。等閑突過北俱盧。日月星辰一時黑。

> The master ascended the hall and said: "The rabbit and the horse have horns; The ox and the sheep have none. Utterly without a trace of distinction— Yet as solid as mountains and peaks. On a needle's tip, the lion turns its body; Within the lotus stalk's pore, the great roc spreads its wings. Without effort, it breaks through the Northern Continent— Sun, moon, and stars all darken at once."
