如是我聞：

> Thus have I heard:

一時，佛住毘舍離耆婆拘摩羅藥師菴羅園。

> At one time, the Buddha was staying in the land of Vaishali, at the Amrapali Garden, the dwelling place of the physician Jīvaka Komārabhacca.

爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「莫樂莫苦。所以者何？有六觸入處地獄，眾生生彼地獄中者，眼所見不可愛色、不見可愛色，見不可念色、不見可念色，見不善色、不見善色，以是因緣故，一向受憂苦。耳聲、鼻香、舌味、身觸、意識法，見不可愛、不見可愛，見不可念、不見可念，見不善法、不見善法，以是因緣故，長受憂苦。

> At that time, the World-Honored One addressed the monks: "Do not cling to pleasure, and do not cling to pain. Why is that? There is a hell of the six sense contacts. Beings born in that hell, with what the eye sees, see only unpleasant sights and never pleasant ones; they see only undesirable things and never desirable ones; they see only unwholesome sights and never wholesome ones. For this reason, they experience nothing but sorrow and suffering. Likewise with sounds heard by the ear, scents smelled by the nose, tastes tasted by the tongue, sensations felt by the body, and thoughts known by the mind—they encounter only the unpleasant and never the pleasant, only the undesirable and never the desirable, only unwholesome things and never wholesome ones. For this reason, they endure sorrow and suffering for a long time.

「諸比丘！有六觸入處，其有眾生生彼處者，眼見可愛、不見不可愛，見可念色、非不可念色，見善色、非不善色，以是因緣故，一向長受喜樂。耳聲、鼻香、舌味、身觸、意所識法，可愛非不可愛、可念非不可念、見善非不善。」

> "Monks, there are six sense bases of contact. Beings born into that realm see only what is pleasing to the eye, never what is displeasing; they see only what is desirable, never what is undesirable; they see only what is good, never what is not good. For this reason, they experience uninterrupted and lasting joy and happiness. Likewise with the ear and sounds, the nose and smells, the tongue and tastes, the body and touches, and the mind and mental objects—only what is pleasing, never what is displeasing; only what is desirable, never what is undesirable; only what is good, never what is not good."

佛說此經已，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
