Chapter 796
如是我聞：
This is what I have heard:
一時，佛住舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。
At that time, the Buddha was staying in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Park, in the city of Shravasti.
爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「有沙門法及沙門果。諦聽，善思，當為汝說。何等為沙門法？謂八聖道——正見乃至正定。何等為沙門果？謂須陀洹果、斯陀含果、阿那含果、阿羅漢果。」
At that time, the World-Honored One addressed the monks: "There is the path of spiritual practice and the fruits of spiritual practice. Listen carefully, reflect well, and I shall explain it to you. What is the path of spiritual practice? It is the Noble Eightfold Path—right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. What are the fruits of spiritual practice? They are the fruit of Stream-Entry, the fruit of Once-Return, the fruit of Non-Return, and the fruit of Arhatship."
佛說此經已，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
When the Buddha had finished speaking this sutra, the monks who heard his teaching rejoiced and put it into practice.
