如是我聞：

一時，佛住舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。

> Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was dwelling in the Jeta Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika’s Park, in Śrāvastī.

爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「有不善男子、不善男子不善男子，有善男子、善男子善男子。諦聽，善思，當為汝說。

「云何為不善男子？謂殺生，乃至邪見者，是名不善男子。云何為不善男子不善男子？謂手自殺生，教人令殺，乃至自行邪見，教人令行邪見，是名不善男子不善男子。

> What is an unwholesome man? One who kills, and up to one who holds wrong views—this is called an unwholesome man. What is an unwholesome man among the unwholesome? One who kills with his own hands, encourages others to kill, and up to one who holds wrong views himself and encourages others to hold wrong views—this is called an unwholesome man among the unwholesome.

「云何為善男子？謂不殺生，乃至正見者，是名善男子。云何為善男子善男子？謂自不殺生，教人不殺，乃至自行正見，復以正見教人令行，是名善男子善男子。」

> "What is a virtuous person? One who refrains from killing, and up to one who holds right views—this is called a virtuous person. What is a virtuous person who guides others to virtue? One who not only refrains from killing themselves but also teaches others not to kill, and likewise not only holds right views themselves but also teaches others to hold right views—this is called a virtuous person who guides others to virtue."

佛說是經已，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
