上堂。百計推尋。永不見面。一時休去。在處逢渠。長連床上喫粥喫飯。取飽為期。我且問你。常住一粒米是幾番過手。上堂。斬釘截鐵。特地乖張。就下平高。衲僧笑。具皇覺。到此有理難伸。未審諸公如何理論。上堂。摩醯正眼熙然赫然。一處該通萬機頓赴。縛虎擒龍之手自此而伸。驚天動地之名從茲而起。且平常一句又作麼生。莫把是非來辨我。浮生穿鑿不相關。

> The master addressed the assembly: "Search endlessly, and you will never see it. Let go completely, and it appears everywhere. On the long meditation bench, eating porridge and rice, the aim is simply to be full. Let me ask you: how many hands does a single grain of rice in this monastery pass through?" The master addressed the assembly: "Cutting through nails and iron with decisive action only creates further distortion. Lowering the high and raising the low brings a smile to the monks. With the enlightened eye of the Buddha, at this point even reason finds no expression. How do you all understand this?" The master addressed the assembly: "The all-seeing eye of Mahēśvara shines brilliantly. One point connects all, and myriad tasks are instantly accomplished. The hand that binds tigers and captures dragons extends from this. A name that shakes heaven and earth arises from this. But what about the ordinary, everyday phrase? Do not use right and wrong to judge me—a fleeting life's contrived interpretations have nothing to do with it."
