> Master Yunchao Yan of Ruiyan Temple, Taizhou

作寫經偈云。以字不成八字非。當陽拈起大家知。釋迦老子舌無骨。黃葉將來嚇小兒。頌靈雲見桃花話曰。三月桃花爛熳紅。靈雲打失主人翁。隨邪逐惡玄沙老。半是真情半脫空。

> Writing a verse on the sutra, it says: "The character 'as' is not formed, the character 'eight' is not right. Held up in the light, everyone knows it. Old Shakya's tongue has no bones— He used yellow leaves to scare the children." A verse on Lingyun's seeing peach blossoms: "In the third month, peach blossoms bloom a brilliant red. Lingyun lost his master along the way. Old Xuan Sha, chasing evil and following the wrong— Half true feeling, half empty talk."
