上堂。舉文殊問菴提遮女生以何為義話。頌曰。問處分明答處端。當機覿面不相謾。死生生死元無際。月上青山玉一團。

> The Master ascended the hall and cited the story of Manjushri asking the laywoman Andi Zhe, "What is the meaning of birth?" Then he gave a verse: The question was clear, the answer direct— Face to face, no deception between them. Life and death, death and life—originally without boundary, Like the moon rising over green mountains, a perfect circle of jade.
