> The fourth-generation ancestor of Changguo Wang family in Siming. He left home under Master Fu of Yongle Temple in Ciqi, a district of the prefecture. After receiving full ordination, he heard of the profound teachings of Master Zhihong at Tiantong and went to pay respects. Zhihong secretly recognized his potential and appointed him as his personal attendant. In the meditation hall, Zhihong would raise the kōan "Does a dog have Buddha-nature?" to test his students. None of them understood, but the master had already grasped it clearly. Later, he visited Master YueTang Yin at Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. YueTang recognized his talents and put him in charge of the monastery's correspondence. When his ordination master's master, Master Fangyan Hui, was appointed to Longxing Shanglan, the master accompanied him on his journey, and while traveling, visited Baizhang. Huiji had long known of the master's abilities and invited him to share the teaching seat. Whenever the master composed writings, Huiji would read them with great respect. Soon after, he succeeded as abbot of Shanglan and greatly revitalized the Dharma. Monks and laypeople alike gathered in harmony. After a long time, he was promoted to Xuedou in Ming Prefecture. After three years there, Songjiang Dianshan fell vacant, and he was invited to fill the position. For over ten years, he worked tirelessly, renovating and rebuilding the halls and quarters. In his later years, he presided over Wanshou Temple for just one year. He showed slight signs of illness, changed his robes, wrote a verse of farewell, and peacefully passed away. This was on the twenty-fifth day of the fifth month in the fifth year of the Zhihou era (1339). At his cremation, five-colored relics, the size of beans and millet, appeared uncountable. People competed to collect them. Those who arrived late would dig through the soil and wash it, also finding enough to satisfy them. His disciples divided the relics and bones into two portions: one portion was enshrined in a stupa at Dianshan, and the other was buried on the western ridge of Longshan. He lived to the age of sixty-six, with fifty years in the monastic life.
