> Chan Master Puzhen of Guangzhi Convent in Suzhou

嘉定瞿氏。參熈怡于萬壽。由內記而掌外記。出住示光經一十年。克苦精勤得住持之體。募建大雄氏殿甫成。　詔修永樂大典。至長于因疾而逝。師學贍內外。湖海咸期其起熈怡之家。俄爾傾逝。莫不痛惜。多聲偈以悼師。甞題魚籃觀音云。丰婆窈窕鬂髼鬆。籃內魚兒活似龍。路轉金沙晴日暖。令人無處避腥風。

> Master Qu of Jiading studied under Xiyi at Wanshou Temple. He rose from internal secretary to external secretary, then took up residence at Shiguang Temple for ten years. Through hardship and diligence, he mastered the essence of abbotship. He had just completed fundraising for the grand Mahavira Hall when he was summoned to compile the Yongle Encyclopedia. However, he fell ill and passed away at Changyu. The master was learned in both internal and external matters, and monks across the land expected him to revive the Xiyi lineage. His sudden demise was mourned by all, who composed many verses in his memory. He once wrote on the subject of the Fish-Basket Guanyin: A graceful dame with disheveled hair, In her basket, fish alive as dragons. The road winds through sand, warm under clear skies— Yet no one can escape the reek of the sea's breath.
