問：何等名為涅槃法緣，而言闕故、無故、不會遇故，不般涅槃？

> Question: What are the conditions for Nirvana, such that when they are lacking, absent, or not met, one does not attain Nirvana?

答：有二種緣。

> Answer: There are two kinds of conditions.

何等為二？

> What are the two?

一、勝，二、劣。

云何勝緣？謂正法增上他音，及內如理作意。

> What is the excellent condition? It is the influence of the true Dharma from others, and one's own proper reflection within.

云何劣緣？謂此劣緣乃有多種。謂若自圓滿、若他圓滿、若善法欲、若正出家、若戒律儀、若根律儀、若於食知量、若初夜後夜常勤修習覺寤瑜伽、若正知而住、若樂遠離、若清淨諸蓋、若依三摩地。
