云何菩薩一切種利行？當知此行，六種、七種，總十三種。

> What is the Bodhisattva's practice of benefiting all beings in every way? Know that this practice has six kinds and seven kinds, making thirteen in total.

云何六種？謂諸菩薩，若諸有情應攝受者，正攝受之；若諸有情應調伏者，正調伏之；若諸有情憎背聖教，除其恚惱；若諸有情處中住者，令入聖教；若諸有情已入聖教，正於三乘令其成熟；若諸有情已成熟者，令得解脫。

> What are the six? They are: 1. For beings who should be guided, the bodhisattva guides them rightly. 2. For beings who should be tamed, the bodhisattva tames them rightly. 3. For beings who turn away from the holy teachings, the bodhisattva removes their anger and afflictions. 4. For beings who remain neutral, the bodhisattva leads them into the holy teachings. 5. For beings who have already entered the holy teachings, the bodhisattva helps them mature in the three vehicles. 6. For beings who have already matured, the bodhisattva helps them attain liberation.

云何七種？謂諸菩薩，安處一分所化有情，於善資糧守護長養。所謂或依下乘出離，或復依於大乘出離。如令所化於善資糧守護長養，如是或於遠離、或於心一境性、或於清淨諸障、或於修習作意，正安處之。若有聲聞、獨覺種性，即於聲聞、獨覺乘中而正安處；若有如來種姓有情，即於無上正等菩提最上乘中而正安處。

> What are the seven? They refer to bodhisattvas who settle living beings in a suitable situation, guarding and nurturing their accumulation of virtue. This may be through relying on the lesser vehicle for liberation, or through relying on the great vehicle for liberation. Just as they guide beings to guard and nurture their virtuous foundations, so too do they settle them properly in renunciation, in one-pointedness of mind, in purifying obstacles, or in cultivating mental application. If there are beings of the śrāvaka or pratyekabuddha lineage, they are properly settled in the vehicles of śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas; if there are beings of the Tathāgata lineage, they are properly settled in the supreme vehicle of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment.
