云何名為先略序事？謂略序流轉雜染品事，及以還滅清淨品事。云何流轉雜染品事？謂六識身自性、所依、所緣、助伴事；若蘊、界、處事；若諸緣起、處非處事；若三受事；若三世事；若四緣事；若諸業事；若煩惱事；若三界事，謂欲界等；若十有事，謂欲有、色有、無色有、那落迦有、傍生有、鬼有、天有、人有、業有、中有，由別離欲、善趣、惡趣、招引、趣向，有差別故；若十一識住事，謂四識住與七識住總合說故；若九有情居事，如經廣說；若五趣事；若四生事；若四入胎事；若四得自體事；若四食事；若四言說事；若四法受事；若四顛倒事；若苦諦事；若集諦事。如是等類，名為略序流轉雜染品事。云何還滅清淨品事？謂滅諦事，若道諦事，若三摩地事，若諸智事，若此所引諸功德事，若七正法事，若七正作意觀察事，若三十七菩提分法事，若四行迹事，若四法迹事，若奢摩他、毘鉢舍那事，若四修定事，若三福業事，若三學事，若四沙門果事，若四證淨事，若四聖種事，若三乘事，若四門記事。如是等類，名為略序還滅清淨品事。如是等事廣辯建立，隨其所應，如前所說彼彼地中及諸攝分應知其相。

They include the nature, basis, objects, and accompanying factors of the six consciousnesses; the aggregates, elements, and sense bases; dependent origination and what is possible and impossible; the three types of feeling; the three time periods; the four conditions; karmic actions; mental defilements; the three realms, namely the desire realm and so on; the ten types of existence, namely existence in the desire realm, the form realm, the formless realm, the hells, the animal realm, the ghost realm, the heavenly realm, the human realm, the realm of karmic existence, and the intermediate state, distinguished by detachment from desire, rebirth in favorable or unfavorable realms, attraction, and movement; the eleven stations of consciousness, combining the four stations and the seven stations of consciousness; the nine abodes of sentient beings, as extensively taught in the scriptures; the five realms of rebirth; the four modes of birth; the four ways of entering the womb; the four ways of obtaining a body; the four kinds of nourishment; the four types of verbal expression; the four ways of experiencing phenomena; the four distortions; the truth of suffering; and the truth of its origin. These and similar categories are called the brief introduction to the teachings on the cycle of existence and defilement. What are the teachings on cessation and purity? They include the truth of cessation, the truth of the path, meditative concentration, the various kinds of wisdom, the virtuous qualities derived from these, the seven true teachings, the seven types of proper mental investigation, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, the four modes of practice, the four virtuous qualities, calm abiding and insight meditation, the four types of meditative cultivation, the three types of meritorious deeds, the three trainings, the four fruits of the path, the four kinds of unwavering faith, the four noble lineages, the three vehicles, and the four gates of teaching. These and similar categories are called the brief introduction to the teachings on cessation and purity. These teachings are elaborated in detail, and accordingly, their characteristics should be understood through the various stages and categories previously explained.
