福州祥光院澄靜禪師。僧問。如何是道。師曰。長安鼎沸。僧曰。向上事如何。師曰。谷聲萬籟起松老五雲披。問如何是和尚家風。師曰。門下平章事宮闈較幾重。

> Master Chengjing of Xiangguang Temple in Fuzhou. A monk asked, "What is the Way?" The master said, "Chang'an is in a boiling uproar." The monk asked, "What about the higher truth?" The master said, "Valley echoes rise from a thousand sounds; the ancient pines part the five-colored clouds." A monk asked, "What is the master's family style?" The master said, "In the court, matters are settled; how many layers deep are the palace chambers?"
