隨州雙泉山道虔禪師。僧問。洪鍾未扣時如何。師曰。絕音響。曰扣後如何。師曰。絕音響。問如何是在道底人。師曰。無異念。問如何是希有底事。師曰。白蓮華向半天開。師後住安州法雲院示滅。

> Chan Master Daoqian of Shuangquan Mountain in Suizhou. A monk asked, "What is it like before the great bell is struck?" The master said, "No sound or echo." The monk asked, "What about after it is struck?" The master said, "No sound or echo." The monk asked, "What is a person who is on the Way?" The master said, "One with no wandering thoughts." The monk asked, "What is a rare thing?" The master said, "A white lotus blossoming toward the sky." The master later resided at Fayun Temple in Anzhou and passed away there.
