### 騰騰和尚了元歌

> Song of Master Tengteng Liaoyuan

修道道無可修。問法法無可問。迷人不了色空。悟者本無逆順。八萬四千法門。至理不離方寸。識取自家城郭。莫謾尋他鄉郡。不用廣學多聞。不要辯才聰俊。不知月之大小。不管歲之餘閏。煩惱即是菩提。淨華生於泥糞。人來問我若為。不能共伊談論。寅朝用粥充飢。齋時更餐一頓。今日任運騰騰。明日騰騰任運。心中了了總知。且作佯癡縛鈍。

> The path of cultivation has nothing to cultivate; Asked about the Dharma, there is nothing to ask. Deluded people fail to understand that form is emptiness; The awakened one sees no opposition or compliance. Eighty-four thousand Dharma gates— The ultimate truth lies nowhere else but in this very mind. Recognize your own city and home; Don't blindly seek in other lands. There's no need to study widely or hear much; No need for eloquence or sharp intelligence. Don't bother about the moon's waxing or waning, Nor care about leap months in the year. Afflictions are themselves enlightenment; The pure lotus grows from mud and filth. When people come and ask me how, I cannot discuss it with them. In the morning, I eat porridge to satisfy hunger; At noon, I take another meal. Today, I let things drift as they are; Tomorrow, I'll drift along as they come. In my heart, I know everything clearly, Yet I pretend to be dull and slow-witted.
