天台智者國師，凡釋諸經首題，須約五重玄義。此楞嚴經以人法為名，常住真心為體，圓通妙定為宗，反妄歸真為用，上妙醍醐為教相。
Master Tiantai Zhiyi, the National Teacher, instructed that when explaining the opening titles of any sutra, one must rely on the Five Profound Meanings. This *Shurangama Sutra* is named after the person and the dharma, has the eternal true mind as its essence, the wondrous samadhi of perfect penetration as its principle, turning away from delusion and returning to reality as its function, and the supreme, refined essence as its teaching phase.
