### 曇鑒

> Tanjian

宋曇鑒。平生片善。迴向西方。誓願見佛。一日定中。見阿彌陀佛。水洒其面。曰滌汝塵垢。浴汝心念。及汝身口。皆悉嚴淨。又於瓶中。出蓮花一枝授之。定起乃與寺僧敘別。夜漸深。獨步廊下念佛。至五鼓。其聲彌厲及明。弟子依常問訊。趺坐不動。就而視之。逝矣。

> Song Tanjian, throughout his life, dedicated even the smallest good deed toward rebirth in the Western Pure Land, vowing to see Amitabha Buddha. One day, while in deep meditation, he saw Amitabha Buddha, who sprinkled water on his face, saying, "I cleanse your dust and defilement, bathe your thoughts, and purify your body, speech, and mind completely." Then, from a vase, the Buddha took out a single lotus flower and gave it to him. After emerging from meditation, he bid farewell to the monks of the temple. As night deepened, he walked alone along the corridor, reciting the Buddha's name. By the fifth watch, his recitation grew even more fervent. At dawn, his disciples came as usual to inquire after him and found him seated in meditation, unmoving. Approaching to look, they saw that he had already passed away.
