吉祥經(出巴利三藏中之小部阿含)

如是我聞．一時．佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園．爾時有一天人．於後夜分．身諸光明徧照祇樹園林．來詣佛所．到已頂禮世尊．却住一面．而以偈白佛言．
Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was staying in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Park, in the city of Shravasti. At that time, a celestial being, in the last watch of the night, with a body radiating light that illuminated the entire Jeta Grove, approached the Buddha. Having arrived, he paid homage at the feet of the World-Honored One, stood to one side, and addressed the Buddha in verse:
諸天與世人． 思維吉祥事． 希求於幸福． 何謂勝吉祥．一
遠離愚癡人． 親近智慧者． 供養於應供． 此事勝吉祥．二
靜住安適處． 由曾作福業． 而自修善德． 此事勝吉祥．三
Dwelling peacefully in a comfortable place, through having performed meritorious deeds, and by cultivating goodness oneself— this is the supreme auspiciousness.
凡學諸律儀． 真實與工巧． 及善說語言． 此事勝吉祥．四
To master all rules and conduct, To be genuine and skillful, And to speak with kindness and clarity— These are supreme blessings.
侍奉於父母． 攝受妻與子． 所作無繫累． 此事勝吉祥．五
Serving one's parents, Caring for one's wife and children, Engaging in work without attachment— This is the supreme blessing.
布施與修持． 攝受親眷屬． 諸業無過咎． 此事勝吉祥．六
Generosity and spiritual practice, Caring for one’s family, Engaging in blameless actions— These are supreme blessings.
遠離諸惡業． 亦不飲諸酒． 於法不放逸． 此事勝吉祥．七
Keep away from all harmful deeds, Do not indulge in drinking alcohol, Be diligent in practicing the Dharma, These are the most auspicious blessings.
尊敬與謙讓． 知足常感恩． 依時聽正法． 此事勝吉祥．八
Respect and humility, Contentment with gratitude, Listening to the true teachings at the right time— These are the highest blessings.
忍辱與謙卑． 具足正知見． 談論於正法． 此事勝吉祥．九
Endurance and humility, With right view fully attained, And speaking of the true Dharma— This is the highest blessing.
苦行與梵行． 而得見聖諦． 證悟於涅槃． 此事勝吉祥．十
Austerity and the holy life, Through which one sees the Noble Truths, Attains the realization of Nirvana— This is the supreme blessing.
接觸世間法． 心寂不為動． 無憂離貪欲． 此事勝吉祥．十一
When encountering worldly affairs, The mind remains calm and unmoved. Free from worry, detached from desire— This is the supreme blessing.
如是修諸行． 而能無墮失． 隨處得安隱． 此諸事吉祥．十二終．
Thus, by cultivating these practices, one will not fall into error, finding peace and stability wherever they go. This is the auspiciousness of all endeavors. End of the twelfth.
