### 第十　優填經

> Chapter 10: Udaya Sutra

如是我聞。

> Thus have I heard.

一時，世尊在憍賞彌國，瞿私多林住。時優填王幸御苑，王宮失火奢摩縛帝妃為首，與五百宮女，死於火中。

> Once, the World-Honored One was staying in the country of Kaushambi, in the Ghoshita Grove. At that time, King Udayana visited the royal garden, and a fire broke out in the palace, claiming the lives of Queen Shamavati and five hundred palace women.

時朝時分，眾多比丘，著衣持鉢，入憍賞彌都城托鉢，托鉢回，飯食訖，往世尊所，禮世尊已，却坐一旁，而白佛言，大德世尊，優填王幸御苑時，王宮失火，奢摩縛帝妃為首，與五百宮女，死於火中。諸優婆夷，當生何趣，來生何處。世尊告言，諸比丘，彼諸優婆夷，有證預流果者，有證一來果者，有證不還果者。諸比丘，彼諸優婆夷非無證果而死。

> At that time, in the morning, many monks dressed and took their alms bowls, entering the city of Kosambi to collect alms. After their alms round and meal, they went to the Blessed One, paid homage, and sat to one side, saying: "Venerable Sir, when King Udena went to the pleasure park, the royal palace caught fire, and Queen Samavati, along with five hundred palace women, perished in the flames. Where will these female lay disciples be reborn? Where will they go in their next life?" The Blessed One said: "Monks, those female lay disciples — some have attained the fruit of stream-entry, some the fruit of once-returning, and some the fruit of non-returning. Monks, those female lay disciples did not die without having attained fruits."

爾時世尊，如是知已，而自說言。

> At that time, the World-Honored One, having understood thus, spoke these words himself.

一切眾生，為痴所縛，現似圓滿。一切愚者，有漏所縛，現似常住能觀察者，則無憂惱。

> All beings, bound by ignorance, appear as though complete. All fools, tied by defilements, seem to be permanent. One who observes this clearly is free from sorrow.
