### 第三　涅槃經之三

> Chapter 3: The Nirvana Sutra, Part Three

如是我聞。

> Thus have I heard.

一時，世尊在舍衛城，祗陀林，給孤獨長者園住。爾時世尊，以涅槃法語，示諸比丘，乃至諦聽於法。

> At one time, the World-Honored One was staying in Sāvatthī, in the Jeta Grove, in the park of Anāthapiṇḍika the elder. At that time, the World-Honored One, using the Dharma of Nibbāna, taught the monks, saying, "Listen closely to the Dharma."

爾時世尊，如是知已，而自說言。

> At that time, the World-Honored One, having understood thus, spoke these words himself.

諸比丘眾，法原不生，不住不造，乃至不作。而仍是有。

> Monks, the Dharma is originally unborn, unceasing, unmade, and uncreated—yet it still exists.

諸比丘眾，若法不生，不住不造，乃至不作。而仍是無，則捨不生，不住不造，乃至不作，諸種種法。不能出現。

> Monks, if phenomena were not born, did not abide, were not created, and even were not made—yet still remained nonexistent—then by abandoning what is unborn, non-abiding, uncreated, and unmade, no various phenomena could ever arise.

但以不生，不住不造，乃至不作，諸種種法。而仍是有。以是之故棄捨不生，不住不造，乃至不作，諸種種法。出現於世。

> Yet although there is no arising, no dwelling, no creating, and no doing—even to the point of no such activity whatsoever—these various dharmas still exist. For this reason, setting aside all such notions as arising, dwelling, creating, and doing, the Tathāgata appears in the world.
