毘羅那拏國，周二千餘里。國大都城周十餘里。氣序土宜，同堊醯掣呾邏國。風俗猛暴，人知學藝。崇信外道，少敬佛法。伽藍二所，僧徒三百人，並皆習學大乘法教。天祠五所，異道雜居。

> The country of Virana, spanning over two thousand li in circumference. Its capital city is more than ten li around. The climate and soil are similar to those of Akshicatra. The people are fierce and violent in nature, yet they value learning and the arts. They revere heretical teachings and show little respect for Buddhism. There are two monasteries with three hundred monks, all of whom study the Mahayana tradition. There are five temples dedicated to various deities, where followers of different heterodox paths dwell together.

大城中故伽藍內，有窣堵波基，雖傾圮，尚百餘尺，無憂王之所建也。如來在昔於此七日說《蘊界處經》之所。其側則有過去四佛座及經行遺迹斯在。從此東南行二百餘里，至劫比他國舊謂僧迦舍國。中印度境。

> In the great city, within an old monastery, there stands a stupa whose foundation, though dilapidated, still rises over a hundred feet. It was built by King Ashoka. In the past, the Tathagata spent seven days here expounding the \*Scripture on the Aggregates, Elements, and Sense Bases\*. Beside it are the seats of the four past Buddhas and traces of their walking meditation. From here, traveling southeast for over two hundred li, one reaches the country of Kapitha<note>Formerly known as Sangakasha, in central India.</note>.
