> Chapter 10

聞如是：

> Thus have I heard:

一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。

> At one time, the Buddha was staying in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Park, in the city of Shravasti.

爾時，尊者羅雲奉修禁戒，無所觸犯，小罪尚避，況復大者，然不得有漏心解脫。爾時，眾多比丘便至世尊所，頭面禮足，在一面坐。爾時，眾多比丘白世尊曰：「羅雲比丘奉修禁戒，無所觸犯，然故有漏心不解脫。」

> At that time, the Venerable Rāhula strictly observed the precepts, never violating them. He avoided even minor offenses, let alone major ones, yet he had not attained liberation from defilements. Then, many bhikkhus went to the World-Honored One, bowed their heads at his feet, and sat to one side. They said to the World-Honored One: "Bhikkhu Rāhula strictly observes the precepts without any violation, yet he still has not attained liberation from defilements."

爾時，世尊便說此偈：

> At that moment, the World-Honored One spoke these verses:

「具足禁戒法， 諸根亦成就，漸漸當逮得， 一切結使盡。

> Fully upholding the precepts and discipline, with all faculties perfected, you will gradually attain the complete cessation of all defilements.

「是故，諸比丘！常當念修治正法，無有漏失。如是，諸比丘！當作是學。」

> Therefore, monks, you should always remember to cultivate the true Dharma, without any negligence. In this way, monks, you should train yourselves.

爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。

> Then, the monks, having heard the Buddha's teaching, joyfully accepted and practiced it.

難陀、涅槃、烏 驢不善有二燭及忍思惟 梵志及羅雲

> Nanda, Nirvana, and the black donkey—these three are not good. The lamp, patience, and contemplation—the Brahmin and Rahula.
