> The Buddha's manifestation in this world entirely depends on the depth of connection and affinity of sentient beings, which determines how long the Dharma will shine. Deep connection leads to lasting presence, while shallow affinity causes it to fade quickly. This principle is natural and unchanging. Now, the Haoyin Monastery in the East is like the sun and moon illuminating a deep valley. Yet, tall pines, massive rocks, dense forests, and deep shadows may obscure the light, making it invisible even under the brightest sky. If we see that the Dharma cannot endure here for long, it is not because the Buddha's light fails to shine brightly, but because the minds of those who receive it are obscured by thick forests of afflictions. How can we judge its rise and fall, its coming and going, by ordinary standards? My only wish is that these obscurations be swiftly removed. Once they are gone, why worry that the light of wisdom will not shine brightly? As for this journey of mine, it is like the vast, boundless sky—the same wind, the same moon. What coming or going is there to speak of? I only hope that you remain well, that Ziguang finds his place, and that your heart may be at peace. In time, when our connection and response meet once more, it will be as if we are again immersed in the Samadhi of the Haoyin.
