Chapter 9: Emptiness Conceals Reality
「世尊！如來藏智是如來空智。世尊！如來藏者，一切阿羅漢、辟支佛、大力菩薩，本所不見，本所不得。
"World-Honored One! The wisdom of the Tathagata-garbha is the Tathagata's wisdom of emptiness. World-Honored One! The Tathagata-garbha is something that all Arhats, Pratyekabuddhas, and even great Bodhisattvas have never truly seen nor attained from the very beginning."
「世尊！有二種如來藏空智。世尊！空如來藏，若離、若脫、若異一切煩惱藏。世尊！不空如來藏，過於恒沙不離、不脫、不異、不思議佛法。世尊！此二空智，諸大聲聞能信如來。一切阿羅漢、辟支佛空智，於四不顛倒境界轉。是故一切阿羅漢、辟支佛，本所不見、本所不得。一切苦滅，唯佛得證，壞一切煩惱藏，修一切滅苦道。
"Lord, there are two kinds of understanding of the emptiness of the Tathāgata's womb. Lord, the empty Tathāgata's womb refers to that which is separate, free, and distinct from all the encumbrances of afflictions. Lord, the non-empty Tathāgata's womb refers to the inconceivable wisdom of the Buddha's qualities, which are countless as the sands of the Ganges and are not separate, not free, and not distinct.
Lord, these two kinds of insight into emptiness enable the great voice-hearers to have faith in the Tathāgata. All Arhats and Pratyekabuddhas attain their understanding of emptiness within the realm of the four non-inverted states. Therefore, all Arhats and Pratyekabuddhas have originally not seen nor attained this. The complete cessation of all suffering is only realized by the Buddha alone, who destroys all the encumbrances of afflictions and cultivates the path that extinguishes all suffering."
