> Chapter 336

如是我聞：

> Thus have I heard:

一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。爾時，佛告諸比丘：「生死長遠。」餘如上說。「若見眾生受極苦毒，憂愁懊惱，當作是念：『我從昔來無量劫中，亦受如是無量苦惱，生死長遠。』」餘如上說。「汝等比丘，當作是學，應懃方便，斷於後有，莫作起有因緣。」

> Thus I have heard: At one time, the Buddha was staying in the Jeta Grove in the kingdom of Shravasti. At that time, the Buddha told the monks, "The cycle of birth and death is endless." The rest is as described above. "When you see sentient beings experiencing extreme pain and suffering, overwhelmed by sorrow and distress, you should reflect: 'In countless eons past, I too have undergone such immeasurable suffering, for the cycle of birth and death is long.'" The rest is as described above. "Monks, you should train yourselves accordingly, striving with diligence to cut off future existence, and not creating the causes that lead to rebirth."

諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
