### 戒報品第三十五

> Chapter 35: The Rewards of Precepts

菩薩離垢地，清淨具說已；菩薩住此地，常作轉輪王。

> The Bodhisattva, free from defilement, On the ground of purity as taught— Dwelling in this stage, he becomes A universal monarch, ruling all.

第二地於十地中名為離垢，慳貪、十惡根本永盡故，名為離垢。菩薩於是地中深行尸羅波羅蜜。

> The second ground among the ten is called "Free from Defilement," because greed, stinginess, and the ten unwholesome deeds are utterly eradicated at their root. On this ground, the bodhisattva deeply practices the Perfection of Ethical Conduct.

是菩薩若未離欲，此地果報因緣故，作四天下轉輪聖王，得千輻金輪種種珍寶莊嚴。

> If a bodhisattva has not yet freed themselves from desire, due to the karmic rewards of this stage, they become a Wheel-Turning King over the four continents, possessing a golden wheel with a thousand spokes, adorned with various precious treasures.

其輞真琉璃為轂，周圓十五里，百種夜叉神所共守護，能飛行虛空，導四種兵，輕健迅疾如金翅鳥王，如風，如念。

> Its rim was of true beryl, with a hub circumference of fifteen li, guarded by a hundred kinds of yaksha spirits. It could fly through the sky, leading the four divisions of the army—light, swift, and fast like the king of garudas, like the wind, like a thought.

所詣之處滅諸衰患，降伏怨賊，一切小王皆來歸伏，親族人民莫不愛敬。

> Wherever they go, all misfortunes are dispelled, and enemies and thieves are subdued. All lesser kings come to submit, and their relatives and people all hold them in love and respect.

普能照明聖王姓族，種種華鬘、瓔珞間錯莊校，五種伎樂常隨逐之，以奇妙寶蓋羅覆其上，行時有種種華香，碎末旃檀常雨供養。燒真黑沈水、牛頭旃檀、黃旃檀以塗其身。

> The holy king of the Shining Sage lineage, adorned with various flower garlands and jeweled necklaces, was always accompanied by five kinds of music, with a wondrous jeweled canopy spread above him. As he walked, various flowers and fragrances, along with powdered sandalwood, rained down as offerings. He was anointed with burning true black aloeswood, ox-head sandalwood, and yellow sandalwood to anoint his body.

其輪兩邊，天女執持白拂侍立，種種珍寶以為其蓋。

> On either side of the wheel, heavenly maidens stand holding white ceremonial whisks, while a canopy of various precious gems adorns the top.

其輪有種種希有之事而用莊嚴，是名金輪寶具足。

> Its wheel is adorned with all manner of rare and wondrous ornaments, and thus it is called the complete golden wheel treasure.

一切象相身大而白，如真銀山王出神嶽，大象眾中能飛行虛空，伊羅婆那、安闍那、王摩那等諸大象王皆能摧却，是名白象寶具足。

> All elephant forms are majestic and pure white, like a true silver mountain rising from sacred peaks. Among the great herds, it soars through the sky. The mighty elephant kings—Airāvana, Añjana, and Vāmana—are all subdued by it. This is called the perfection of the White Elephant Treasure.

馬相色如孔雀頸，其體輕疾，如金翅鳥王飛行無礙，是名馬寶。

> Its appearance is like the neck of a peacock, and its body is light and swift, moving freely like the king of garudas in flight. This is called the horse treasure.

貴家中生，身無疾病，有大勢力，形體淨潔，憶念深遠，直心柔軟，持戒堅固，深敬愛王。能通達種種經書、技術，是名主兵臣寶。

> In the noble household, there is one who is born, free from illness, possessing great strength and vitality, with a pure and clean body, profound memory, an upright yet gentle heart, steadfast in observing precepts, and deeply respectful and loyal to the king. This one is skilled in various scriptures and arts—this is called the Minister of Military Affairs, a precious treasure.

如財主天王富相具足，千萬億種諸寶伏藏，常隨逐行，千萬億種諸夜叉神眷屬隨從，皆是先世行業之報。

> Like the wealthy Heavenly King of Wealth, endowed with full riches, hundreds and thousands of kinds of precious treasures hidden in the earth constantly follow him, and hundreds and thousands of yaksha spirits attend him as his retinue—all of these are the results of deeds done in his past lives.

善知分別金、銀、帝青、大青、金剛、摩羅竭、車𤦲、馬瑙、珊瑚、頗梨、摩尼、真珠、琉璃等種種寶物。悉能善知出入多少，隨宜能用，能滿王願，是名居士寶。

> Skilled in distinguishing gold, silver, indigo-blue beryl, sapphire, diamond, coral, agate, cat's eye, pearl, crystal, and other precious gems, and in knowing their values and uses, able to fulfill the king's wishes — this is called the layman's treasure.

光明如日月，照十六由旬。

> Radiant as the sun and moon, illuminating sixteen yojanas.

形如大鼓能滅種種毒虫、惡氣、疾病苦痛。

> Shaped like a great drum, it can eliminate all kinds of poisonous insects, harmful vapors, and the suffering of illness and pain.

人天見者莫不珍愛，好華瓔珞以為莊嚴，處在高幢威光奇特，能令眾生發希有心生大歡喜，是名珠寶。

> All who see it, whether divine or human, treasure it dearly. Adorned with fine flowers and precious garlands, it stands atop a high banner, radiating extraordinary brilliance. It moves beings to arise rare and wondrous hearts, filling them with great joy. This is called the Jewel.

其手爪甲，紅赤而薄。

> Her fingernails are thin and a bright red color.

其形脩直高隆，潤澤不肥不瘦，身肉次第，肌膚厚實，細密薄皮，不堪苦事。

> His form was tall and upright, elevated and full, smooth and lustrous, neither too plump nor too thin. The flesh of his body was well-proportioned, his skin thick and firm, yet delicate and thin-layered, not able to withstand hardship.

身安堅牢如多羅樹，身上處處吉字明了，吉樹文畫嚴莊其身，象王、牛王、馬王畫文、幡蓋文、魚文、園林等文現其身上。

> His body is firm and stable like a tara tree, with auspicious marks appearing clearly across it—decorative trees and patterns adorning his form. Images of the elephant king, bull king, horse king, banners, canopy, fish, and gardens all manifest upon his body.

踝平不現，足如龜背，足邊俱赤，足跟圓廣，𨄔𦟛柔軟。

> His ankles are flat and not prominent, his feet resemble the back of a turtle, the edges of his feet are crimson, his heels are round and broad, and his calves are soft and supple.

膝圓不現。髀如金柱，如芭蕉樹，如象王鼻軟澤光潤，𦟛圓而直。

> His knees are round and not visible; his thighs are like golden pillars, like banana trees, like an elephant king's trunk—soft, glossy, smooth, rounded, and upright.

橫文有三，腹𦟛不現，臍圓而深，脊背平直。乳如頻婆果，如雙鴛鴦，圓起不垂，柔軟鮮淨。又其臂纖，𦟛圓且長，節隱不現。

> There are three lines on his chest, his belly is not prominent, his navel is round and deep, his spine is straight. His breasts are like bimba fruits, like a pair of mandarin ducks, round and raised without sagging, soft and fresh-clean. Moreover, his arms are slender, round, and long, with joints hidden from view.

其鼻端直，不偏現出，不大不小，孔覆不現。

> His nose is straight and upright, without any crookedness, neither too large nor too small, with nostrils that are concealed and not visible.

兩頰不深，平滿不高，兩邊俱滿。

> The cheeks are not hollow, but full and even on both sides—completely rounded and complete.

額平而長，有吉畫文。

> His forehead is flat and elongated, bearing auspicious markings.

耳軟而垂，著無價環。

> His ears are soft and drooping, adorned with priceless earrings.

齒如真珠貫，如月初生，如雪如珂。

> Her teeth were like a string of pearls, like the new moon rising, like snow, like white jade.

脣如丹霞，如頻婆果，上下相當，不麁不細，如赤真珠貫。

> His lips are like the evening clouds, like the bimba fruit, with upper and lower lips perfectly matched, neither too thick nor too thin, like a string of red pearls.

眼白黑睛，二色分明，莊嚴長廣，光明清淨。其𥇒青緻，長而不亂。

> The whites of the eyes and the dark pupils are clearly distinguished, majestic in their length and breadth, radiant and pure. The eyelashes are dark and finely textured, long yet neatly arranged.

眉毛不厚不薄，不高不下，如月初生，高曲而長，兩邊相似。

> His eyebrows are neither too thick nor too thin, neither too high nor too low. They are like the crescent moon at its first rising—gracefully curved, elongated, and perfectly symmetrical on both sides.

髮軟而細，潤澤不亂。

> His hair was soft and fine, lustrous and untangled.

其身芬馨常有香氣，如開種種上好香奩。身諸毛孔常出真妙栴檀名香能悅人心，口中常有青蓮華香。身體柔軟如伽陵伽，天衣細滑之事，一切具足。

> His body is fragrant and always carries a sweet scent, as if opening various exquisite incense boxes. From every pore of his body constantly emanates the finest true sandalwood fragrance, pleasing to the heart, and his mouth always holds the scent of blue lotuses. His body is soft like the kalavinka bird, and the delicate elegance of heavenly garments — all such qualities are fully present.

心無諂曲，直信慚愧，深愛敬王。知時知方，善有方便，攝取王心。坐起言語能得王意，隨王意行，常出愛語，如人間德女，眾好具足。

> Their hearts are free from flattery and deceit, holding straightforward faith, a sense of shame, and reverence. They deeply love and respect the king. They understand the right time and the right place, skillfully employing means to win the king's favor. In sitting, rising, and speech, they can align with the king's wishes, acting according to his will, always speaking kind words—like virtuous maidens in the world, complete with all excellent qualities.

色如提盧多摩天女，清淨分明，如月十五日畫文炳現。

> Her complexion shone like the celestial maiden Tilottama, pure and clear, as vividly manifest as the moon's markings on the fifteenth day.

如帝釋夫人舍脂，著天衣、天鬘、天香，多以天光明金摩尼珠莊校其身。

> Like Lady Shezhi, wife of Lord Indra, adorned in heavenly garments, garlands, and perfume, decorated with radiant heavenly gold and mani jewels adorning her body.

善知歌舞伎樂、娛樂戲笑之事。善有方便，隨意能令王發歡喜。

> Well-versed in the arts of song, dance, and theatrical performances, and skilled in entertainment and playful amusement. Clever and resourceful, able to easily bring joy and delight to the king whenever desired.

一切女中是女為最，是名玉女寶。

> Among all women, the woman who is foremost is called the Jewel of a Woman.

又轉輪聖王有四如意德：一、者色貌端嚴，於四天下第一無比。二、無病痛。三、人民深愛。四、壽命長遠。

> The Wheel-Turning King possesses four qualities of perfection: 1. His appearance is dignified and handsome, unrivaled across the four continents. 2. He is free from illness and pain. 3. He is deeply loved by his people. 4. His life span is long and enduring.

教誨眾生以十善業，能令諸天宮殿充滿，能減阿修羅眾，能薄諸惡趣增益善處。

> Teaching sentient beings to practice the ten wholesome deeds fills the abodes of the gods, reduces the hosts of Asuras, thins the realms of misfortune, and increases the realms of goodness.

能為眾生多求利事，有所施作；不用兵仗以法治化，天下安樂，外無敵國畏，內無陰謀畏。又其國內，無疫病、飢餓及諸災蝗衰惱之事；一切邊王皆所歸伏。

> One who serves the welfare of all beings, acting for their benefit without resorting to weapons, governs by virtue. The land enjoys peace and happiness, with no fear of foreign enemies or internal conspiracies. In such a kingdom, there are no epidemics, famines, or disasters caused by locusts and other calamities; all neighboring rulers submit willingly.

多有眷屬能疾攝人，更無有能侵害國界，其四種兵勢力具足，諸婆羅門、居士、庶人皆共愛敬，甘香美食自然而有，國界日增無有損減。

> Many devoted followers can quickly gather people \[around the ruler\], and no one can harm the kingdom’s borders. The four types of troops are fully powerful. Brahmins, householders, and common folk all respect and cherish \[the ruler\]. Sweet and fragrant delicacies appear naturally. The kingdom grows day by day, with no decline or loss.

善能通達經書、技藝、算數、呪術皆悉受持，巧能論說分別義趣。群臣具足，悉有威德。常行財施，無能及者。

> Skilled in mastering scriptures, arts, mathematics, and incantations—all fully upheld. Eloquent in discourse, discerning meanings with precision. The ministers are complete, all possessing dignity and virtue. Generous in giving wealth, none can surpass them.

千子端嚴，如諸天子，威德勇健能破強敵，所住宮殿、堂閣、樓觀如四天王帝釋勝殿，王所教誨無有能壞，於四天下，唯有此王威相具足，故無能及者。

> A thousand noble sons, majestic like divine princes, brave and powerful enough to vanquish mighty foes. Their palaces, halls, and towering pavilions rival the splendid abodes of the Four Heavenly Kings and Lord Indra. The king's teachings remain unshaken, and throughout the four corners of the world, none can match his complete majesty and grace.

音聲深遠，易聽易解，不散不亂，如迦羅頻伽鳥，美軟和雅，聞者悅耳。

眷屬同心不可沮壞。所住之處，地、水、虛空無有障礙。

> Their family members share one mind, and nothing can break them apart. Wherever they dwell, earth, water, and space present no obstacles.

威力猛盛，能堪大事。念問耆老，不欺誑人。心無妬嫉，不忍非法，無有瞋恨。威儀安詳而不輕躁。所言誠實，未曾兩舌。行施持戒，常修善心。進止知時，不失方便。神色和悅，言常含笑，未曾皺眉惡眼視人。退失利者為之作利，已有利者令深知報。懷慚愧心，有大智慧，威德尊嚴而能忍辱。大丈夫相，其性猛厲，諸所為事疾能成辦。先正思量然後乃行，王有法眼，所為殊勝，善思量者乃與從事，若不任者，更求賢明。

> His power is fierce and vast, capable of accomplishing great deeds. He consults the elders and never deceives others. His mind is free of jealousy, he cannot tolerate wrongdoing, and he harbors no hatred. His conduct is calm and dignified, never rash or impulsive. His words are honest, and he never speaks with duplicity. He practices generosity and upholds moral precepts, always cultivating a virtuous mind. He knows when to act and when to pause, never missing the right opportunity. His expression is gentle and cheerful, his speech always accompanied by a smile—he never furrows his brow or glares at others. For those who have fallen behind, he creates advantage; for those already prosperous, he helps them deeply understand gratitude. He possesses a sense of shame and conscience, has great wisdom, and carries himself with majestic virtue and dignity while enduring insult with patience. He bears the marks of a great man, with a bold and resolute nature, swiftly accomplishing whatever he undertakes. He deliberates carefully before acting. The king possesses the Dharma-eye; his deeds are extraordinary. He associates only with those who think wisely—if someone proves unfit, he seeks out a wiser person instead.

善集福德、財物。清淨能自防護，不破禁戒。多饒財寶如毘沙門王。

有大勢力如天帝釋，端嚴可愛猶如滿月，能照如日，能忍如地，心深如海，不為苦樂之所傾動。

> His power is vast, like the great king of gods, Indra. His noble and radiant appearance is as lovely as the full moon. He shines with the brilliance of the sun, and his patience is as steadfast as the earth. His mind is as deep as the ocean, unmoved by either pleasure or pain.

如須彌山王，風不能搖。諸寶妙事之所住處，諸善福德之所依止，是諸一切世間親族、諸苦惱者之所歸趣。無歸作歸，無舍作舍；有怖畏者，能除怖畏。

> Like the king of mountains, Mount Sumeru, unshaken by the wind. It is the dwelling place of all precious wonders, the refuge of all virtues and blessings. It is the kin of all beings in the world, the destination of all who suffer. For those without refuge, it becomes their refuge; for those without shelter, it becomes their shelter; for those who are afraid, it removes their fear.

轉輪聖王有如是等相。

能轉破戒者， 令住於善法；其餘所行事， 如初地中說。

轉破戒者：能令眾生捨惡行善，得安樂事。

令住善法者：能轉眾生惡身、口、意業令行善身、口、意業。

此事如初地中說，所謂見諸佛，得諸三昧，但彼數百，此地數千以為差別。
