The *Shamila Sutra* is a lost Chinese-translated Buddhist scripture, with its specific author and translator unknown. It is believed to have been compiled during the Northern and Southern Dynasties period. The sutra primarily revolves around the story of Venerable Shamila's pursuit of the Dharma and his spiritual practice, elucidating the importance of pure precepts and the practice of meditation. It emphasizes attaining wisdom and liberation through upholding precepts and cultivating concentration. Although the original text is lost, records from historical Buddhist catalogs indicate that this sutra once served as an important reference for early Chinese Buddhist monastic discipline and practice, reflecting the emphasis placed by the monastic community of that time on practical methods. It holds a certain historical significance in the transmission of Buddhist scriptures.
