### 實利根國普門城長者普眼妙香第十六

> Chapter 16: Elder Puyan Miaoxiang of Pumen City in Shaligen Country

善現之土，徹窮本性，名實利根。緣無不攝，名普門城。真戒以資慧眼，名普眼。妙香法，名令一切眾生歡喜。普門，法門也。就長者答中，初、寄除物病，明攝生戒具；二、我又善知已下，托和香供養，顯善戒亦集。就前句中，初、明識病以處治；二、除其已下，明將養合儀；三、我以如是已下，明療功周畢，妙稱物情也。就攝善法戒中，初、辨香相；二、燒此已下，明因香以成順行也。一丸者，明少尚曠周，多則宜然也。

> The Land of Good Manifestation penetrates to the very root of nature, and is named "True Sharp Roots." It encompasses all conditions without exception, and is called "The City of Universal Gates." True precepts support the eye of wisdom, and are named "Universal Vision." The wondrous fragrance of the Dharma is called "Bringing Joy to All Beings." "Universal Gates" refers to the Dharma gates. In the elder's reply, first, by addressing the healing of beings' afflictions, it clarifies that the precepts for guiding beings are complete. Second, from "I am also skilled in knowing..." onward, it uses the offering of blended incense to reveal that virtuous precepts are also gathered. In the first part, it begins by explaining the recognition of afflictions and their treatment. Next, from "removing them..." onward, it illustrates the proper methods of care and nourishment. Then, from "I, through such means..." onward, it demonstrates the thoroughness of the healing work, skillfully responding to the needs of beings. In the section on the precepts for gathering wholesome dharmas, it first distinguishes the characteristics of the incense. Then, from "burning this..." onward, it explains how through the incense, harmonious practice is accomplished. "One pellet" signifies that even a small amount can pervade widely—how much more so a greater quantity.
