### 鞞婆沙九十八使處第十五

> The Ninety-Eight Afflictions in the Vibhasha, Chapter 15

九十八使者，欲愛五、恚五，色無色愛十、慢十五、無明十五、見三十六、疑十二。

> Ninety-eight mental agents: five from craving for desire, five from anger, ten from craving for form and formless realms, fifteen from pride, fifteen from ignorance, thirty-six from wrong views, and twelve from doubt.

問曰：何以故作此論？

> Question: Why was this treatise composed?

答曰：如守本文沙門，斷彼意故作此論。如名守本文沙門者，是一切佛契經如本所說而執持。

> He replied: Just like the monks who cling to the literal text, they distort its meaning and therefore make such arguments. "Monks who cling to the literal text" refers to those who grasp and hold to all the Buddha's sutras exactly as they are worded.

問曰：彼何以故作是念？

> Question: Why did they give rise to such a thought?

答曰：彼作是說：更誰有力勝於佛者？謂佛契經說七使，彼當能作九十八使耶？謂彼欲爾者，欲斷彼意故。此中九十八使說如實相，以是故作此論。佛契經說七使，彼分別界、行、種起九十八使。分別種者，謂七使。欲愛使中分別種，於九十八使中起五種恚使亦爾。分別界種者，謂七使中有愛使者，使分別界種，於九十八使中起十使。若七使中慢使，亦分別界種，於九十八使中起十五種。無明使亦爾。謂七使中疑使，彼亦分別界種，於九十八使中起十二種。分別界行種者，謂七使中見使，分別界起十五、欲界五見、色無色界五見。分別行者十八，欲界六、色無色界六。分別種者有四。如是五見分別界行種，於九十八使中起三十六使，是謂七使分別界、分別行、分別種，便起九十八使。廣說九十八使處盡。鞞婆沙說不善品小章竟。
