> Master Zha'an's Praise

有嚴不量蹇拙。來講雄詮。迹寄紺官。心服至德。覩肖像之斯在。伸俚詠而敢無嗚呼。伏惟昭鑑。

> In reverence to the solemn and profound, the majestic and the wise, I offer this humble verse. My thoughts dwell in the sacred realm, my heart devoted to the highest virtue. As I behold the divine image before me, I dare to express this simple hymn. Alas, may my sincerity be witnessed and acknowledged.

憶昔昏霾萬里開。 德星一點耀南台。 修真名自神州起。慕法僧多日本來。 道樹幾將成巨蠧。慧燈相次作寒灰。 當時不假扶持力。 塵劫茫茫事可哀。

> I recall how, once, the haze of ten thousand miles parted. A single star of virtue shone upon the southern terrace. The name of true cultivation rose from the sacred land. Monks yearning for the Dharma came from Japan in numbers. Yet the tree of the Path was nearly overtaken by great decay— The lamp of wisdom, one by one, turned to cold ash. Had there been no strength to hold it up back then, Through endless eons of dust, how sorrowful the tale would be.
