Vast Aspiration Hymn
All beings of every kind, In past, present, and future, without end, And the Buddha-lands, vast and boundless, Are filled with dust-motes from those measureless lands.
And each single dust-mote is a land, Countless as dust are these great Buddha-lands. In every land, the Perfectly Enlightened Ones, In number like the dust, I universally bow.
Those lands multiplied by dust-motes, And the Buddhas in every land, I praise. With single-minded devotion I constantly make offerings, Through eons as numerous as dust.
I bow to all Buddhas and the Dharma community, I always take refuge in the Three Jewels. I offer all wonderful flowers, And heaps of precious jewels, constantly and universally.
If I have committed any misdeeds, I now fully confess them all. If I have not yet given rise to misdeeds, I will always keep far from them at all times.
All virtuous and fortunate deeds, I always rejoice in them all. I dedicate this merit to all sentient beings, And to the supreme enlightenment of the Buddhas.
As taught in the true Dharma of the Buddhas, May my vows be firm and true. I constantly make offerings to all World-Honored Ones, May I ultimately attain Buddhahood.
May I, life after life, possess profound wisdom, Always like Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva. With compassionate heart relieving suffering and saving the world, May I be like Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva.
With kind, loving eyes gazing upon beings, May I be no different from Samantabhadra. With compassionate mind skillfully observing all beings, May I always be like Maitreya.
In generosity, may I be like the Treasury of Space. In ethical conduct, may I be like the Wisdom of Spiritual Powers. In patience and diligence, these two perfections, May I be like Constant Diligence.
With meditative power to gather all distraction, May I attain that of Vajrapāṇi. Skillfully expounding the Dharma gates of the Ten Grounds, In expounding wisdom, may I be like Vajragarbha.
Skillfully questioning the Buddha, the World-Honored One, May I attain that of Sarvanīvaraṇaviṣkambhin. With profound mind and wisdom, firm and stable, May I always be like Firm Wisdom.
With unobstructed spiritual powers and skillful means, May I attain that of Vimalakīrti. Skillfully protecting the virtuous roots of beings, In diligence and courage, may I be like Constant Courage.
Skillfully expounding the Dharma of the perfections, May I attain that of Akṣayamati. Possessing immeasurable wonderful sounds, May I be no different from Wonderful Sound.
Drawing near to spiritual friends with unwavering mind, May I, life after life, be like Sudhana. Able to proclaim the Dharma, incomparable as space, May I attain that of the Treasury of Space.
As the earth nourishes all worlds, In universally benefiting, may I be like Kṣitigarbha. Relieving poverty and suffering, benefiting beings, May I be no different from the Treasure-Store Spirit.
My speech producing endless wonderful Dharma treasures, May I attain that of Dharmodgata. With wisdom sharp, keen, and constantly diligent, May I be like Sadāprarudita.
These supreme sons of the Buddha, Possess boundless, supreme accumulations of merit. Their renown is vast and endless, May my renown also be like this.
This praise of the Buddha's accumulation of merit, Is supremely good and extremely vast. I universally wish that all sentient beings in the world, May abide in that supreme accumulation of merit.
