> Section 5: The Analogy of the Empty Flower

推逐空華因患翳 推翳良由有眼睛眼若本無無所翳 昭中無因翳何生即知根境因迷執 迷執唯依本覺明本覺若無如木石 木石何曾有妄情

> Chasing away illusory flowers arises from diseased eyes; Removing the cataract depends on having eyes. If the eyes were originally without any defect, Since there is no clarity within, how could the cataract arise? Thus we know sense bases and objects arise from deluded attachment; Deluded attachment alone relies on original enlightenment's clarity. If original enlightenment were absent, like wood or stone, How could wood and stone ever harbor delusive feelings?
