> Chapter 5

圓稱覺心而發慧 慧心非一亦非殊同合色空性相等 如珠合影影和珠靜即幻幻即靜合理理融金即事 合事事空與理修二空即寂之中觀中道義宗於是現始終三法互冥符 性相不離於覺性一金千器入玄鑪 性即靜門相即幻覺心寂滅體寧孤 融圓覺性舒而卷合於一切卷而舒 卷舒無礙而圓覺同於佛也戒也動靜同時御丈夫

> The mind, perfectly awakened, gives rise to wisdom— This wisdom is neither one nor many. It unites form and emptiness, their nature equal— Like pearls reflecting light, and light merging with the pearls. Stillness is illusion, illusion is stillness. Merging with principle, gold becomes the ornament; Merging with phenomena, emptiness is cultivated alongside truth. In the emptiness of both, stillness holds the middle view. The meaning of the Middle Way appears right here. From start to finish, the three aspects intermingle— Nature and characteristics never leave the awakened mind. One gold, a thousand vessels, all cast in the mysterious furnace. Nature is the gate of stillness; characteristics are illusion. The awakened mind, still and calm, is not solitary— The perfect, radiant nature unfolds and gathers. It merges with all, folding and unfolding— Unfolding and folding without hindrance, perfectly awakened. This is the same as the Buddha, and the precepts. Moving and still at once—the Great Master.

寂靜定也思惟惠也求哀懺悔。經三七日。於二十五輪。各安標記。至心求哀。隨手結取。依結開示。便知頓漸。一念疑悔。即不成就。

> In stillness and contemplation, I seek mercy and repent. After twenty-one days, I place markers on twenty-five wheels. With utmost sincerity, I seek compassion and draw one by lot. Based on what is drawn, the teaching is revealed, and one knows whether the path is sudden or gradual. A single thought of doubt or regret, and it will not come to fulfillment.
