若其念念雖好修善布施齋戒而多猜嫌狐疑進退所修福業多為勝他見人修善情多嫉忌貢高我慢珍己輕人欲彼歸從不耐謙損如䲻高飛下視外揚仁義內無實德眾前談論引長於我不循理正不愧賢能如此行心是阿修羅界。

> If someone, though constantly fond of cultivation, charity, and precepts, is full of suspicion, indecision, and hesitation; if their good deeds are mostly done to outdo others; if they feel envy when others do good, and are arrogant, self-important, and disdainful; if they belittle others while exalting themselves, demand submission from others yet refuse to be humble or yielding—then they are like a kite soaring high, looking down on all below. Outwardly they display benevolence and righteousness, but inwardly they lack true virtue. In discussions they always put themselves first, disregard reason and justice, and show no respect for the wise or capable. Such a mind belongs to the realm of the Asuras.
