The "Huayan Five Teachings Primer" compiled by the Qing Dynasty eminent monk Master Xufa is an important doctrinal work of the Huayan school. This book systematically expounds the Huayan classification of the five teachings: the Hinayana teaching, the initial Mahayana teaching, the final Mahayana teaching, the sudden teaching, and the perfect teaching, while providing detailed explanations of the Huayan doctrinal system. Upholding the thought of the Tang Dynasty master Xianshou Fazang, Master Xufa compiled this work in the context of the Buddhist revival during the Qing Dynasty, offering a clear gateway for studying the doctrines of the Huayan school. This work is regarded as a model text for Huayan teaching and holds authoritative significance in guiding later generations in understanding Buddhist doctrinal classifications. It occupies an important position in the intellectual history of Chinese Buddhism.
