### 修行道地經天耳品第十六

> Chapter 16: The Divine Ear

識慧為轂寂應緣， 無所罣礙順正道，其有轉此道法輪， 稽首轉輪大聖族。察省若干之伎樂， 設有悲哀心正等，聞諸天人地獄聲， 叉手稽首尊淨性。

> With wisdom as the hub, stillness responds to conditions, Free from all hindrances, following the true path. To those who turn this Dharma wheel, I bow to the noble lineage of wheel-turners. Observing the various forms of joy and sorrow, Whether in bliss or grief, the mind remains equanimous. Hearing the voices of gods, humans, and hell-beings alike, With hands joined, I bow to the pure nature of the honored ones.

其修行者適成天耳，便得徹聽亦無煩憒。譬如有人掘地求藏，本規索一并得餘藏；行者如是，本求天耳徹聽隨從，悉聞天上世間之聲。於是頌曰：

> When a practitioner attains the divine ear, they gain clear hearing without confusion. It is like someone who digs for treasure—planning to find one thing, they discover other treasures as well. In the same way, the practitioner who seeks the divine ear and clear hearing can perceive all the sounds of heaven and earth. Thus it is said:

計彼修行者， 興法以善權，精勤得天眼， 覩天上世間；徹聽自然生， 所聞亦無限，如人地求藏， 自然得餘寶。

> Consider the diligent practitioner, who skillfully employs the Dharma, earnestly cultivating to attain the divine eye, beholding the heavens and the world; clear hearing arises naturally, and what is heard is boundless, like one who digs the earth for treasure, naturally discovering further riches.

譬如夜半眾人眠寐，一人獨覺上七重樓，於寂靜時聽省諸音，妓樂歌舞、啼泣悲哀、撾鼓之聲；修道所見亦復如是，心本寂靜，遙聽地獄啼㘁酸苦，見聞餓鬼及與畜生、天上、世間妓樂之音，是為天耳神通之證。於是頌曰：

> Just as in the dead of night, when everyone is asleep, one person alone awakens and climbs to the top of a seven-story tower. In the stillness, they hear all kinds of sounds—music and song, weeping and sorrow, the beat of drums. So too, in the practice of the Way, the mind is originally tranquil and still, yet from afar it hears the anguished cries of hell, perceives the hungry ghosts and animals, and hears the music of the heavens and the human world. This is the realization of the divine ear. On this, a verse says:

如夜眾庶皆眠寐， 一人起上七重樓，靜心而聽一切人， 妓樂歌舞之音聲；其修道者亦如是， 天耳徹聞諸音聲，其在三界諸形色， 悉曉了知其語言。從無央數大經義， 我得其餘服甘露，譬如人病服良藥， 今演世尊天眼教。

> As when all people sleep at night, one person climbs a seven-story tower, and with a tranquil mind hears all— the sounds of music, song, and dance; so too does the one who practices the Way, with divine ear, clearly perceive every sound. All forms and appearances in the three realms, their languages he fully comprehends. From countless great scriptures and meanings, I have received the remainder and tasted the nectar. Just as a sick person takes good medicine, now I expound the World-Honored One’s teaching of the divine eye.
