師於庚申年三月二十八日辭　履齋丞相及諸府第朝士。　履齋問師何日去。師答云佛生日前去也。四月一日師命工砌塔。至初六日晚問匠畢工也未。匠答云已畢工來。早請禪師看塔。師於初七日早看塔。回方丈索紙寫遺書。自撰起龕語云。地水火風。夢幻泡影。七十八年。一彈指頃。孝子順孫休戀慕。八臂那吒攔不住。寶所在近。休戀化城。起入塔語曰。東西十萬。南北八千。到處去來。不如在此。此之描不成兮𦘕不就。贊不及兮休生受。本來面目露堂堂。外面風頭稍硬。歸來暖處商量。法身遍界不曾藏。毒惡聲名播大唐。辭世偈云。虗空不生。虗空不滅。證得虗空。虗空不別。書偈畢。跏趺而逝。　都知王太尉隨即敷奏。恭奉理宗皇帝聖旨降。賜錢三千貫宣葬于護國靈洞山。

> On the twenty-eighth day of the third month in the Gengshen year, the Master took leave of Chancellor Lüzhai and the various officials of the court. Lüzhai asked the Master when he would depart. The Master replied, "Before the Buddha's birthday." On the first day of the fourth month, the Master ordered craftsmen to build his stupa. By the evening of the sixth day, he asked the craftsmen whether the work was finished. The craftsmen replied that it was already complete and invited the Master to inspect the stupa the following morning. On the morning of the seventh day, the Master inspected the stupa, then returned to the abbot's quarters and called for paper to write his farewell letter. He composed his own words for the raising of his coffin, saying: "Earth, water, fire, and wind—a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow. Seventy-eight years pass in the snap of a finger. Filial sons and obedient descendants, do not cling in longing. Even eight-armed Nazha cannot hold me back. The treasure lies near—do not cling to the phantom city." His words upon entering the stupa were: "East and west, a hundred thousand li; north and south, eight thousand. Coming and going everywhere—better to remain here. This cannot be depicted, cannot be painted. Praise cannot reach it—cease your fuss. The original face stands revealed in full glory. Outside, the wind blows a bit sharp. Come back to the warm place and discuss it. The Dharma body pervades the world and was never hidden. Its fearsome reputation spreads throughout the great Tang." His farewell verse ran: "Emptiness is not born. Emptiness is not extinguished. Having realized emptiness, emptiness is no different." When he finished writing the verse, he crossed his legs in the lotus position and passed away. Commander-in-Chief Wang the Grand Marshal immediately memorialized the throne. Respectfully receiving Emperor Lizong's imperial decree, three thousand strings of cash were granted, and a public funeral was held at Huguo Lingdong Mountain.
