Text for the Ceremony of Releasing from Precepts
Esteemed Assembly of Monks, please listen! The designated number of monks has now gathered. If the assembly is complete and there is no objection, the assembly will now dissolve the designated boundary at this location. This is the formal declaration.
Venerable members of the Sangha, listen! This many bhikkhus are now gathered. The Sangha will now dissolve this designated boundary. Those elders who consent to the Sangha dissolving this boundary remain silent. Those who do not consent, speak. The Sangha has consented to dissolving this boundary. Since the Sangha consents and remains silent, this matter is thus settled.
On the days of the Uposatha and the Pavāraṇā, if the Sangha is not able to gather in harmony, a smaller boundary may be established for the sitting.
Venerable Sangha, please listen. The seats for the bhikkhus are now fully occupied, and the seating arrangement for these bhikkhus is complete. If the Sangha is ready and consents, the Sangha will now establish a minor boundary within this seating area. This is my formal declaration.
