The "Collection of Baoyun's Revival of the Ancestral Lineage" was compiled by the Song Dynasty monk Zongxiao in the fifth year of the Qingyuan era. This work is a collection composed in commemoration of the Great Master Yitong of Baoyun in Siming, containing precious documents such as biographies, stupa inscriptions, poetry, prose, and correspondence of Yitong and his Dharma heirs, including Zhili and Zunshi, eminent monks of the Tiantai school. Its compilation background stems from the Tiantai school's efforts during the Southern Song Dynasty to revive the ancestral teachings and manifest the orthodoxy of the tradition. This book not only serves as an important historical source for studying the history and thought of the Tiantai school in the Song Dynasty, particularly the Shanjia branch, but also provides key insights into Sino-Korean Buddhist exchanges, as Great Master Yitong was originally a monk from Goryeo who came to China to propagate the Dharma and became the Sixteenth Patriarch of the Tiantai school, holding a position of high esteem.
