*The Buddhist Chronicle of Ancient Records* is a Buddhist historical text compiled by the monk Jue'an during the Yuan Dynasty. Written in an annalistic style, it records the development of Buddhism in China from its introduction up to the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, covering the deeds of eminent monks, the transmission of lineages, and significant events. Against the turbulent backdrop of the late Song and early Yuan periods, Jue'an extensively gathered historical materials and systematically organized Buddhist history, aiming to protect and propagate the Dharma. This work is an important classic for the study of Chinese Buddhist history, possessing considerable historical value and exerting a profound influence on later Buddhist historiography.
