### 黑毛臥具戒第十二

> Chapter 12: The Rule on Black Wool Bedding

此毛貴出四大國。祇第九云。又毛大貴。或一金錢得一兩。乃至二三四金錢得一量。然此毛極細濡。觸眼睛不淚出。皆為難得。出四大國。一毘舍離國。二弗迦羅國。三剎尸羅國。四難提拔陀國。求是毛去時。或得却還。或死不還。此毛極貴也若得已成割壞者。元作意後。若得黑毛衣成時。得即疑割破後得已成黑衣。未割肘不犯。元有疑割之心落在開通門中也。背後不者若微細薄疊單衣不受畜。先元有心後若得細衣兩重作後果。然得一單現成衣。未犯未本心故。重數未足故開不犯。更待得一重故。後若更得作兩重了便不犯也。故道元意後得也。

> This fine wool comes from four great countries. According to the Ninth Chapter \[of the Vinaya\], this wool is extremely valuable — one gold coin may buy only one measure, or two, three, even four gold coins for a single measure. Yet this wool is so incredibly fine and soft that when it touches the eye, it does not cause tears. It is exceedingly rare and difficult to obtain. It comes from four great countries: 1) Vaiśālī, 2) Pukkalāvatī, 3) Takṣaśilā, and 4) Nandyabhadra. When people go to seek this wool, some return with it, while others die on the journey and never come back — so precious is this wool. If one has already obtained it and cut it, the original intention matters. If one later acquires a completed woolen robe, and upon receiving it suspects it has been cut, then if it is a finished black woolen garment — the cutting that happened before acquisition does not constitute an offense. The original suspicion of cutting falls under the category of allowance. As for the matter of one layer not being enough: a thin, single-layer garment is not to be stored. If one originally had the intention, and later obtained fine cloth intending to make it double-layered, but then acquired a ready-made single-layer garment, there is no offense — because the original intention was not fulfilled, and the required number of layers had not been reached, so it falls under allowance. Wait until one obtains another layer; if later one makes it into two layers, then it is not an offense. Therefore it is said: the original intention is established, and only afterward is it obtained.
